Come to think of it, most of the traditional ideas about the things we thought sustain marriages have all been found not to be the real deal when it comes to a marriage that would last. For example, sex does not keep or sustain any marriage. If sex does, there won’t be so much adultery as we have it today. The faintest idea that could cross the mind of any one today is to think a man or a woman would remain in marriage just because of sex alone. Also, money does not sustain any marriage. If money does, most…

“The overall point is that any federal system that fails to continuously restructure and respond to changing dynamics is not likely to work well or survive” — Professor Eghosa Osaghae, Keynote Address at the South-West Zone of the Nigerian Political Science Association, Wednesday, April 24, 2019 It was entirely logical and appropriate that this year’s edition of the South-West Zone of the Nigerian Political Science Association which began on Wednesday, April 24, at the University of Ibadan, chose as its theme, ‘Governance and Restructuring in Nigeria: Retrospect and Prospect’. First, the South-West, and to a lesser extent, the South-East and…
All over the world, people are celebrating Easter, commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The resurrection of Jesus Christ was one of the tenets of Christianity, and upon which every believers’ faith rest, that Christ came to the world, died for the sins of humanity, was put to death; and on the third day, He was resurrected back to life again by the power of God. As a matter of fact, the resurrection story is so important that even the basis of every believer’s salvation is based on believing it. Romans 10:9 say “That if you confess with…
The last time I checked, God does not live in temples made with hands [Acts 7:48, 17:24]. But the Notre Dame has gotten more attention since the fire razed it down; as if it is God’s earthly residence each time He visits the earth. What is in a temple? Why do we place so much priority in rebuilding a temple than helping mankind have a sincere relationship with God? How many of those who have donated to the course of rebuilding the Notre Dame have missionaries they are sponsoring or have sponsored across the globe, taking the message of the…
Much more than having your physical senses developed and intact as humans, there is such a thing as being sensitive spiritually. Spiritual sensitivity has to do with being awoken to the things of the Spirit. Man, as we know is first and foremost a spirit-being. That then tells us that being sensitive spiritually is not out of place for man. Even the Scriptures says in Romans 8:6 that “For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” But the unfortunate thing is that many have paid more attention to developing their physical senses at the detriment of their spirituality.…
Tola Dehinde Some months ago, I was unwell, I was having pains in my back and chest, as such, I had to go to the pain clinic. The way it works is, I have to call the clinic before I make my way there and go through some checks with the nurse over the phone. When I got there, they had already prepared the intravenous morphine injection that they were going to give me. Usually, I try as much as possible not to go to the pain clinic unless absolutely necessary because sometimes things go wrong and this was one…

Whether it is coming from the members of the Nigerian Police force, or from any random Nigerian with some little cash in his or her bank account, there is at least one form of injustice or the other being meted on one Nigerian somewhere in his own country. From the young medical doctor who was stabbed in Idi-araba by thugs, just to cart away his belongings, to one little innocent baby somewhere in a crèche being maltreated by his or her caregiver; it appears no one is immune to this wave of evil that has bedevilled Nigeria’s society. We hear…
Domestic violence in marriage has been a problem for ages. The reason it appears like it is just coming to the fore is because most of the victims of these violence and abuses kept it to themselves. A lot of them go through it, enduring, with the hope that either of the party involved would change with time. Many, because of societal stigmatization and religion acclimatization, chose to remain mute about it, rather than voice out and seek help and counsel where necessary. As a result of this, countless number of men and women lose their lives in the process,…
The truth is, growth don’t just happen overnight. It takes a process and it takes time. Sometimes, when you see supposed believers who misbehaves, the reason is because many of them jumped their growth process. There is a saying that when you jump up, you will come down, but when you grow up, you will remain there. Growth cannot be jumped, one simply grows into growth. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 3:6 that he “he planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.” That clearly shows a growth process, isn’t it. The same also is true for spiritual growth. It…
