The Senor Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to Acting President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Laolu Akande; has tweeted about the sack of Mr. Lawal Musa Daura, the Director General of the Department of State Service (DSS). The tweets read: “AgP Yemi Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the DG of the DSS, Mr. Lawan Musa Daura. Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”
Channels Television however reported that Daura is in a closed-door meeting with the Acting President, currently holding at the presidential villa in Abuja. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris is also in the closed-door meeting.
The incident of today at the National Assembly could have been the reason for Daura’s removal as the DG of DSS. Also, it could as well be an attempt for the Presidency to put the blames of today’s facade in the National Assembly on Mr. Lawal Daura. But if the Presidency is involved in that blockade, how come Lawal Daura is held responsible for it? Could DSS act without prior permission from the President?
And if the President is not involved in this drama, could it be that Mr. Daura is working against President Muhammadu Buhari? Who could have ordered the National Assembly locked down? These questions needs urgent answers. Nigerians can only hope that the darkness that has shrouded all that has went down in Nigeria’s polity today can receive some light in the coming days so that Nigerians can make sense of it all.
