The matter of purpose for living is a sensitive matter that must be handled with much wisdom, planning and understanding. It is said, When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable; which connotes the indispensability of the knowledge of purpose for living for everyone.
Having realized that everyone must be aware of his or her purpose for living; we must also know that there is a huge difference between knowing one’s purpose and doing (pursuing or fulfilling) one’s purpose.
While anyone who knows his or her purpose for living and also do it; could be described as a successful man or woman; there is a serious need for us to consider and reconsider how we pursue our own purpose: For a pursuit is not a guarantee for true and lasting success; but a correct or well pursuit.
Take for instance, if you choose today to become a great professional footballer; but also decided never to disturb your own physical and psychological comfort in the profession; and you decided to also be your own coach as a professional footballer. Please, should you go further to follow your “purpose” to become a footballer; will you ever become that “purpose”?
The pointis this, making a decision to follow your passion or lifelong dream is not enough; you must appraise your concluded commitment – how do you intend to become or do your own purpose?
Pride is said to be a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one’s own achievements. The question is, “Can a man or woman pursue his or her life purpose with pride?
Can a man take fire to his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Proverbs 6:27
That question is a food for thought; however, I will submit thatanyman or woman pursuing purpose with pride will either destoy his or her purpose with pride; or be self-destroyed!
The caution here is that, no matter how much success you are achieving in life in the pursuit of your purpose; you must never get overwhelmed in its glory: For everyone’s purpose is primarily for the glory of the King and His Kingdom.
Allow God to take every glory; get more joy in bringing glory to God through the fulfillment of your purpose; than the purpose itself. Remember, for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.(Philippians 2:13).
When you do something or say something that gives God joy – get your own joy from His joy; do not get joy from the things you do or say. May the Lord help you more to realize this secret of the great!
