The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has finalised plan to host a concert aimed at rallying the grassroots against voter’s inducement and raising the consciousness of Nigerians against money laundering activities.
Acting Chairman of the commission, Ibrahim Magu, said the “Say No to Vote Buying” concert, which will hold on January 13, 2019 at the Unity Fountain, Abuja, is part of the EFCC’s corruption prevention efforts aimed at sensitising the public against the ills of corruption.
The concert, which is being organised in partnership with Olanrewaju Toriseju, popular comedian fondly referred to as Ambassador Wahala, will hold by 2.00 p.m., and will feature comedy by emerging comedians. There will also be stage-plays and talk-shows.
In another development, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Yekini Nabena, has accused the presidential running mate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi, of asking South African drug peddlers to sponsor the opposition PDP.
In a statement yesterday, Nabena, who is APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, alleged that the deal was premeditated by the fact that the PDP had ran out of idea on how to finance its ongoing nationwide campaign for the presidential poll.
He said he was privy to information of how the PDP and Atiku/Obi could no longer run big rallies for lack of funding but had to contact some drug dealers in South Africa for help.”
He, therefore, enjoined Nigerians to beam their searchlights on members of the opposition seeking to upstage the APC-led administration.
