While an average Nigerian is aware of the role played by the Minister of Information (Mr Lai Mohammed) in the emergence of General Muhammadu Buhari as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Mr Lai Mohammed is also expected to know his bounds and limits with regards to his responsibility within the Presidency.
The truth is, Nigerians did not vote for the “Presidency”, we only voted massively for General Muhammadu Buhari – he chose to work with them as co-servants of Nigerians at the highest level of governance.
We therefore think it is out of place for anyone in the Presidency to tell us that NO ONE CAN FORCE BUHARI TO TALK. What is the big deal in talking by the way?
Each time the Presidents or Prime Ministers of other developed nations such as United States, United Kingdom and the likes are on vacation; they often keep in touch with their own people. In the case of President Buhari, Nigerians laboured to make him President – some of whom died, lost their family members and even got injured for him to become their leader. Is it not out of place for them to seek to know how their president is doing? Posterity will surely judge everyone in National Governance!
While General Buhari was contesting for the position of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; he went everywhere in Nigeria – talking to Nigerians through every means possible. How come he can’t do it again? If talking to Nigerians has given him the job; he will only keep the job through more talks with Nigerians – irrespective of their religion or social class!
