The event – which served as a forum for exchanging ideas, networking and exploring strategies to grow the fashion industry- kicked off with the MD of PAL Pensions – Dave Uduanu, speaking on how to make the fashion industry investible and how to structure an investment in fashion through an investment fund. “Investors prefer to invest in bold and distributive business ideas because investors are interested in the business of fashion and not fashion in itself.” Dave Uduanu said.
Participants at the event were enlightened on the challenges in the industry owing largely to inadequate infrastructure to enable local manufacturing. Citing examples, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi of LDA World said “Nigeria imports sewing threads”.
Panellists also advised potential investors and budding fashion entrepreneurs on the importance of collaborating with industry stakeholders as a key tool for the nation’s economic growth.
