Just the morning, while meditating on the Word of God, I found a Scripture that explains the political situation in Rivers State right now – even as Electoral processes are suspended in the State until further notice due to violence from various quarters.
The incumbent Governor of the State, Governor Wike is bent on returning back to power; while the past Governor of the State, Honorable Rotimi Amaechi is equally bent on recovering a portion of his influence over the affairs of the State. In what looks like a tug of war; the situation in the State is apparently tensed.
So that other Nigerians can understand what is going on in Rivers State right now; I believe I have received what explains the situation from the Word of God:
Luke 11:21-23 (NKJV)
21 When a strong man (Governor), fully armed (party loyalists/thugs), guards (monitors, protects) his own palace (State), his goods (votes/re-election) are in peace (guaranteed). 22 But when a stronger than he (Former Governor) comes upon him (invades he State institutions) and overcomes him (send out his men from Collation centres), he (Former Governor) takes from him all his armor (security agents) in which he trusted, and divides his [a]spoils (election results). 23 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
Without over-flogging the issue, I am sure every Nigerian is clear that this Scripture that was written thousands of years ago is as relevant in the situations of Nigeria as it was to the people of Israel. I rest my humble case for now!
