It is impossible to see the child of a tailor or a fashion designer to go naked. He/she might not wear a very expensive clothing but one thing is sure that their nudity will never be exposed. Christ said in Matthew 6:28-30, it says: “And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith?”
God is so much concerned about our coverings, but there is a particular kind of fashion design He wants every child of His to put on. This we would consider and discover in a short moment. God’s intention is not for His children to go naked. As a matter of fact, He wants to be our chief fashion designer, and He has tailor made our clothes, finely crafted and fitting to bring out the beauty in us. Let us begin our meditation from the book of Genesis 3:7
“Then the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves apron-like girdles.”
This does not just involve the physical eye. It had to do with an enlightened understanding. The moment they understood in disobedience all they could think about was to use fig leaves as covering. This is the best a distorted mind towards God can behave or think. Disguise to cover shame. What is leaves compared to glory? Imagine Adam that was very creative suddenly became a man that all he could think was to use leaves for covering.
The moment you walk against God in disobedience, every covering over you is lifted. So see Adam that was doing very well suddenly became an object of ridicule and a mediocre. Verse 21 says: “For Adam also and for his wife the Lord God made long coats (tunics) of skins and clothed them.” At best this was the covering God provided for them but it could not be compared to the first glory that was covering them.
A lot of ministers of God and believers disobey God and settle for the leaves or at best settle for animal skin. But there is a better clothing which is Gods glory we must all desire to appear in. Don’t always think you can disobey God and walk away with it simply because your nakedness is not visible. For the fact that it is not evident now does not mean it will not show. You are only been covered with an animal skin. The real glory has departed from you. And very soon the whole world will see your nakedness and lack of content.
It feels good to be clothed by God, in fact nothing can be compared to it. Peter, James, and John saw something close to it on the mount of transfiguration and it was wonderful. And then God gave us a little secret “He said this is my beloved Son in whom I AM well pleased, hear Him.” That’s it. You want to look good and be clothed with a covering that will consume this earthly garments we have? Then hear Christ, hear the words He speaks, obey His instructions as commanded, and you can never be naked or be ashamed.
Adam and his wife lost the glory that was covering them because they wanted to have their understanding enlightened through disobedience. And because the understanding came in disobedience, they lost everything. Two wrongs don’t make a right. What kind of understanding are you craving for? What kind of path have you taken? It has the capacity to determine your destination and nudity. No wonder Apostle Paul said 2 Corinthians 3.18, it says: “And all of us, as with unveiled face, [because we] continued to behold [in the Word of God] as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are constantly being transfigured into His very own image in ever increasing splendor and from one degree of glory to another; [for this comes] from the Lord [Who is] the Spirit.”
What you see, and how you see what you see, ultimately determines your true state of nakedness. A naked man is a man that has lost the glory of God. A naked man is a man that is not walking in perfect alignment with the will of God. See what Christ said in Revelations 3, about the Lukewarm Church; in verse 17b. It says “you do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked.” He was talking about the nature and properties of nakedness.
Spiritual nakedness cannot be covered with leaves or designer clothing, it can only be covered with Christ by beholding Him continuously. Don’t shift your gaze, let your eyes be fixed on Him, that is how your nakedness can be covered. See what He said in verse 18 “Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be [truly] wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes, that you may see. “
The clearer you see, the better clothing you will put on. A man who sees nothing but the letter without revelations by Spirit, filled with religion, self righteousness and works of the flesh; will be completely naked. Until you allow Christ to cloth you, you will continue to live in shame.
May the Lord help us in Jesus’ name.
