There is no other time when issue arises in the management of real estate other than when the time is approaching to renew rent by the tenants. This scenario usually occurs with sitting tenants that have spent some considerable period on the property. For incoming tenants, paying rents isn’t usually an issue because it is their first time. Most property managers wouldn’t even dare give their properties to an incoming tenant whose rent is not complete or doesn’t have the money to pay. But for sitting tenants, renewing rent can be a serious problem. Many of them would give all…

I was just offered a job and I was to move to Abuja to pick up my appointment. I have heard how expensive renting accommodation was in Abuja, but was told the only places one could secure cheaper house rent were in the city suburbs. As the usual practice is, I went through property bulletins, searched online and other outlets to look for properties that were for rent for a starter like me. I got one, called the agent in charge, and we fixed an inspection appointment. When we got to the property, it was a six unit 2 and…
Leadership has a lot to do with leading, in whatever setting or form you may think of. Be it in government, organizations, family, church; it all boils down to the fact that there is a person everyone looks up to at any point in time. As a leader, you take responsibility for a lot of things. When everything is going the right way they should, as a leader you are praised for it. Also, whenever things go the other way round, you also bear the blame as a leader. So, the position of leadership is one that is sensitive and…
No thanks to one of her most disgraceful and shameful products, Senator Dino Melaye, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has had a lot of negative press lately. You are never going to get good press when you have somebody as unworthy in character and learning as Dino Melaye strutting across the national landscape, claiming to have been your product. Dino-gate occasioned a national scramble for falsehood among the alumni of our various Universities. Whereas those of us who have spent our entire adult lives crisscrossing Universities on every continent have a full grasp of the tragedy of higher education in Africa,…
Mexican Juan Pedro Franco, the world’s heaviest man, who at one point weighed almost 600 kilogrammes (1,300 pounds), has undergone successful gastric bypass surgery, his doctors in Mexico said. And with that he also loses his status as the fattest man on earth. The procedure on Franco is intended to reduce his weight by half, and is expected to be followed up with another operation, his surgeon Jose Castaneda said Tuesday, according to AFP. “The surgery was quite successful. But now we have to wait and see how he responds to the (systemic) change. Let’s hope everything goes well,” Castaneda…
I just read with utter dismay, where President Muhammadu Buhari’s special adviser on legislative matters; Mr. Abdulrahman Sumaila said his Principal (President Buhari) is strong enough for the 2019 electoral battle. I am just wondering: which Buhari is he talking about? Is it that same that appeared so weak and fragile after last week’s Jumat prayer at the national mosque; being flanked by people in case ‘baba wan drop’? Sometimes I wonder why we are like this in this part of the world. We need to understand that being a servant leader is not an easy task. It is a…
The confetti were still littering Paris from Macron’s celebration event on Sunday night when the 39-year-old Frenchman became the youngest president in French history, and already he met with one of the biggest challenges facing his new administration: a population, mostly among the local labor unions, that is unwilling to accept any if not all of the proposed economic reforms, and made this abundantly clear on Monday by clashing in violent protests across Paris with the local riot police. That’s not the only reason why Emmanuel Macron may find the hangover of his bitter fight with Marine Le Pen unpleasant.…
The internally generated revenue (IGR) of Lagos state rose by approximately N33 billion from 2015 to 2016, beating 33 states put together. The outgoing governor of Jakarta has been sentenced to two years in prison for blasphemy and inciting violence. Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, known as Ahok, was the first ethnic Chinese Christian to run Indonesia’s capital, and the case was seen as a test of the country’s religious tolerance. He was accused of insulting Islam by referring to a verse in the Koran during a campaign speech. Mr Purnama denied blasphemy and in court said he would mount an appeal. The sentence is harsher than most observers had expected – prosecutors had called for a suspended one-year sentence. The governor was “found…
Let us examine this subject from the biblical point of view. Does God really discipline His children? Noticed I did not use the word ‘punish’ in this chapter. The reason is because to be disciplined and to be punished are two different words. The word punishment is kind of harsh in that sense of the usage. Punishment involves inflicting pain, suffering or loss that serves as retribution as a result of what a person had done. For instance, a judge may declare that a person be punished with ‘death’ as a result of taking another man’s life. In that instance,…
