The population of the world today is over 7 billion people – over 7 billion thoughts per second; over 7 billion ideas; over 7 billion plans and pursuits per second and over 7 billion devotions. Ordinarily, that statistics connotes a competitive world – a world where we almost compete for access to peace, water, oxygen and comfort.
It is more than a fact that the inherent desire of everyone is to attain to comfort, abundance, peace, security and space. Incidentally, the whole world does not guarantee all that, leading to pressure on the available space, security and satisfaction.
Sometime ago in Nigeria, once you graduate from the University; there is a waiting job that comes with entitlements like official car, accommodation and all that. However, there is an acute shortage of such opportunities today, as the number of graduates far outweighs the available jobs. Hence, many Nigerians go around with their Masters Degree and sometimes, with their Doctorate degree without good jobs.
On a soft side: “Do you know that there is competition in most churches today over the Pastors’ prayers. People rush to say amen in order to be the first to claim or the sole claimer of pastors’ blessings?
I have mentioned all that to remind you of the competition all around us. The question then is, “how can one legally (in good conscience) gain an advantage over countless other students, people, businesses and groups? The answer is available and we will be meditating on God’s word for more understanding.
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, “You shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
Genesis 3:1
If you meditate on the keywords in the verse above; you would discover certain secrets for competitive edge anywhere and in everything. Firstly, the word Now comes together with the word was – implying that the state that the beast called serpent was, was not the state it had been. That is, there was a change of state for the serpent, which made it (even became he) become more cunning than its peers in the field.
In the book of Revelations 12:9; Scripture called lucifer (satan or devil) the old serpent. What that means is, “the serpent in the book of Genesis 3:1, was ‘possessed’ by the fallen arch angel called lucifer – satan”. Did you see that? Ordinarily, the serpent was just another beast in the field; but the moment it gave itself over to the devil to use; it became a he, and then became the most cunning of all beasts of the field.
I do not know you own industry or field or profession; and you could even be a junior member, student or staff. However, if you can submit yourself to the Spirit of the LORD (just as the serpent submitted to satan); you will become another person (a new man or woman entirely) and you will become better than your peers in any field, indusrty or career.
See what the man of God told Saul before he became king over Israel:
…..Then the Spirit of the LORD will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them (prophets) and be turned into another man.
1 Samuel 10:6
Friend, you can become a new man or woman (even) today and you can become better than everyone else – you only need to welcome the Spirit of the LORD into your life and let Him rule the earth in you! Did you see that? When the Holy Spirit rule the earth in you; you become a great ruler; when the Holy spirit heal the nations in you, you then become a great international healing vessel of God.
My own desire is to become another man; one in whom the Spirit of the LORD write books for the empowerment of nations; teach and coach the nations and build the cities of the nations. If that becomes my experience; in a short while, I will become an international celebrated author of books, teacher and coach and builder of cities!
