While am quite aware of the emergence of 5G technology, I only find it amusing to know that the NCC is contemplating making the technology work in Nigeria. Am I saying this because I don’t want the technology? Of course not! I only have issues with the inability of the regulatory agency to ensure value for more for Nigerians in the already deployed technologies – 2G, 3G and 4G.
Today, many Parts of Nigeria are outside the coverage of the 4G connection of all the Network Providers. In many places, the 3G Network is even weak, even though available.
I understand that a number of things have been done over the years to improve the quality of bandwidth in Nigeria by service providers; I believe that Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) should focus more on ensuring the widespread and quality delivery of existing spectrum; rather than join the band wagon of latest technology, without really maximizing the available ones.
