Etebo joins Eagles, embassy stops NFF chiefs

Portugal-based midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo and Bosnia-Herzegovina-based defender Musa Muhammed will arrive at the Super Eagles camp in London on Wednesday after enduring plenty of pains to obtain visas to enter Britain ahead of their friendly games against Senegal and Burkina Faso.
Nigeria face Senegal’s Teranga Lions on Thursday – and Burkina Faso’s Stallions on March 27 in the English capital.
Spokesman for the Nigeria Football Federation Ademola Olajire confirmed that Feirense’s Etebo and Zeljeznicar’s Musa, as well as IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, would join their colleagues who trained together for the first time on Tuesday after arriving in London on Monday.
But the NFF could not confirm the arrival date for Zulte Waregem defender Kingsley Madu and Granada defender Uche Agbo, who have been held up by visa issues in Belgium and Spain respectively.
Olajire said South Africa-based goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi would arrive in London on Thursday as the Chippa United star had yet to secure a visa to travel to England.
The arrival of Austria Wien’s goalscoring sensation Olarenwaju Kayode and on-loan Sporting Gijon left-back Elderson Echiejile increased the number of players in the Eagles’ Crowne Plaza camp to 19.
Olajire confirmed that Chelsea star Victor Moses would not feature in the two games as he is currently on the treatment table following an injury he sustained while playing for his Premier League club.
Meanwhile, the British High Commission on Tuesday denied three senior staff members of the NFF visas allegedly on the ground that they had failed to fulfil all the requirements.
Our correspondent learnt that the NFF Technical Director Bitrus Bewarang; Director of Competitions Bola Oyeyode; and Head of Protocol Unit Tunde Aderibigbe were turned back.
It was learnt that the NFF chiefs were told that their visas were being delayed because they had not visited the UK for some time now.
