Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane responded to a shock defeat at Valencia on Wednesday by recalling Gareth Bale for his first start in three months for Sunday’s visit to Villarreal.
The Welshman scored on his return from an ankle ligament injury suffered on November 22 last weekend as a second-half substitute against Espanyol and also came off the bench for the final half hour at Mestalla in midweek.
Portuguese defender Pepe replaces the injured Raphael Varane in the only other change to Zidane’s starting line-up.
