The police have arrested three suspects who allegedly abducted two ladies and their male friend in Abuja last month.
Parading the suspects on Monday in Abuja, the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood explained that Uche Obiora, Michael Ishaku and Raphael Dauda were arrested by the IGP’s Special Tactical Squad and Technical Intelligence Unit and other investigative departments of the Force.
He added that detectives also nabbed one Mohammed Haruna in whose room the victims were kept at Mpape, a satellite town in Abuja.
Moshood stated that the victims’ car, as well as the gang’s operational Mazda car with registration number SNK 891 TM, one AK 49 rifle and fifty-nine 7.65 mm live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
He said, “In a renewed onslaughts against kidnappers across the country, the operatives of the IGP’s Special Tactical Squad smashed a vicious kidnap-for-ransom gang and arrested three kidnappers on February 12,2017 at their hideout in Abuja and Kano respectively.
“The suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to have collected N1 million ransom money before releasing the victims.”
The spokesman said investigation was being intensified to arrest the other fleeing members of the syndicate.
One of the suspects, Obiora said their gang leader, Abdul who is at large, asked them to abduct the girls and their friend, adding that their car was given to a car dealer, Ishaku.
Ishaku admitted that he received the car, adding that he was taking it to Kano when he was arrested by the police.
